Techniques

The Atlas Orthogonal technique is extremely gentle and requires no twisting, popping, or cracking of the neck. This is able to be accomplished through very careful analysis of the atlas bone itself through x-ray views taken from the front, side, and top. These specific views allow the doctor to see exactly how the atlas has misaligned in the x, y, and z axes. From the careful analysis utilizing our digital x-ray software, the doctor can determine the exact degree the patient needs to be adjusted on in order to obtain the best results possible.

The instrument used to adjust the atlas functions by using a percussion wave. Hence, most patients do not feel the adjustment itself.

The Activator is the other adjusting instrument utilized in our office. Patients will often affectionately refer to it as “The Clicker” because of the sound it makes. The adjustment is a gentle tap, which helps move the vertebra back toward its proper position and allows for increased range of motion and decreased nervous system interference which in turn allows for decreased pain. This gentle technique works well for people of all ages.
